Assistant Management Accountant
Salary: £26,669 – £28,389 (Scale 5)
Hours: Full time or part time (0.8 FTE considered)
Location: Truro and Penwith College
Truro and Penwith College are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Head of Finance and supporting the Management Accountant, you will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the effective financial management of the College.

In this varied role, you will:
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journal entries for accruals, prepayments and recharges.
• Maintain the College’s Fixed Asset Register, ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are recorded accurately.
• Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and assist with budget monitoring and reporting.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules to assist with month-end processes.
• Process ad-hoc and BACS payments and assist with financial transactions as required.
• Respond to queries from staff, students and external stakeholders.
• Support the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with financial data, has strong attention to detail, and is keen to contribute to improving financial systems and processes.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience of working in a finance or accounting environment.
• Excellent Excel and IT skills, including strong spreadsheet capability.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high levels of accuracy.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
A Level 3 qualification (or above) in Accounting or a related subject would be advantageous.
