Crynodeb

This is a full-time post based at West Suffolk Hospital but with clinical links to Addenbrookes Hospital. The post is funded for 10 PAs. The post-holder will join team consultant colleagues (Dr Chong, Dr Petchey and Dr Syed Hasan Ahmad) in the Nephrology Department. The appointee will continue current nephrology services including weekly general nephrology clinics. The appointee is expected provide a high standard of care to renal patients and a consultant opinion on any patient referred to nephrology services. In addition, the candidate will be expected to share supervision and support of the renal nurse specialist with the existing nephrologists. The appointee may be on-call 1:10 (subject to change) on weekdays and at weekends. The inpatient beds will be shared with, Dr W Petchey and Dr Syed Hasan Ahmad Consultant Physician, on ward F8 and associated outlying medical wards (wards F5/6). The idea would be for rotation of the consultants on and off the ward. The weekday working pattern starts at 08:30hrs until 17.00hrs Monday to Fridays. There are protected shifts for administration and SPA time (1.5PAs). All medical staff are now ward based, and the appointee will conduct regular ward rounds including board rounds as agreed on the Job Plan. There are seven doctors in training based on the ward, including one SpR in General Medicine & Rheumatology, two IMT3, 1 CMT one FY2, one STGP trainee and two FY1s. The appointee will be responsible for emergency care ward rounds when on call. The division of medicine operate a physician of the day service, with the on-call physician starting the ward round on the following morning. The on-call physicians clinics are reduced /cancelled on the following morning. The Trust delivers services to patients seven days a week and aims to provide equality of treatment and outcome regardless of the day of the week.
