This is a temporarily funded post until 20.07.2027

The Private Rented Sector plays a valuable role in providing housing for residents of the borough and the Council want to ensure that it offers good quality accommodation that is value for money. To help us achieve this we currently operate seven landlord licensing areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy and dedicated Private Sector Housing Team. We are a relatively large team delivering a wide range of services that integrate public and private sector partners, creating a bottom-up approach to supporting neighbourhoods offering real help where it is needed through the empty homes programme, an innovative home improvement agency, landlord enforcement, selective and HMO licensing, the Good Landlord and Agent Accreditation scheme and energy efficiency improvements.

If you would like to be part of improving housing conditions in Burnley and join the landlord licensing team at this exciting time you will need to demonstrate in your application form that you meet the criteria detailed in the person specification.

Landlord licensing is a busy team dealing with a wide range of priorities affecting the private rented sector. It is essential you have 3 GCSE`s at Grade C or above (or equivalent). You must have experience of working in an administrative section of an organisation and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences. It is also essential you have the ability to work as part of a team and are able to maintain accurate records.

In this role you will be responsible for:
• Providing day-to-day administrative support to the landlord licensing team
• Processing landlord licensing applications
• Providing effective and professional customer service to stakeholders
• Organising and maintaining paper and electronic filing systems and records
• Educating and advising Landlords and Managing Agents through the Good Landlord and Agent Scheme

The Council offers a generous salary, pension, holiday entitlement and exceptional work/life balance initiatives. The team operates from Burnley Town Hall combined with some home working.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jess Chung, Landlord Licensing Officer, on 01282 475848.
