Quantity Surveyor Opportunity
We are working with a leading national housebuilder - one of the largest in the UK - delivering high-quality new-build homes and mixed communities across the country and are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Midlands based Commercial Team.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the regional commercial team, managing the financial and contractual aspects of residential developments and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Working across multiple housing developments, you will support the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and senior commercial staff.
As a QS, you will take responsibility for:
- Managing the commercial and contractual performance of residential developments from start through to completion
- Procuring subcontract packages and preparing tender documentation in line with project requirements
- Reviewing subcontractor quotations, negotiating terms, and placing subcontract orders
- Monitoring project costs, valuations, and forecasts to ensure developments remain within budget
- Preparing and submitting interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Managing subcontractor payments, applications, and commercial queries
- Working closely with site teams to monitor project progress and resolve commercial issues
- Producing regular cost reports and financial updates for senior management
- Supporting the commercial team in maintaining strong cost control across all live sites
QS Requirements:
- Minimum HNC qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction or equivalent
- Residential experience (experience in housebuilding, housing associations, or main contracting)
- Strong commercial awareness and a good understand of budget management
- Excellent communication, negotiation and networking skills
- Proficiency with COINs software
- A team player who can work within a team and independently and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
