The Trust has invested in professional leadership and improving standards of care by making clear the nursing structure across the organisation. A part of this investment is the addition of a part time 12 month fixed term Associate Chief Nurse who will provide strategic and operational leadership for programmes of work, within the CNO office.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in leading the Trust's vision to deliver safe, effective, and timely care. This role will appeal to someone who wants to develop nursing care standards and has the experience and confidence to lead passionate and driven nurses. You will lead programmes of work where putting the patient at the centre of decisions and clinical practice will be the priority.

Alongside of the Deputy Chief Nurses the post holder will work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer deputising, including at external events and regulatory and statutory meetings. Adding the Associate Chief Nurse increases the post holder’s opportunity to make meaningful and lasting change that will make a real difference to the people we serve.

Applicants must have the ability to build positive and effective professional relationships, work with a range experienced leaders and be a credible nurse in practice. SLaM is committed to developing nurses.

this is an exciting time for the Trust as part of the South London Partnership we plan to further develop Nurse Associates and to ensure we have a clear development pathway for nurses at all levels.

The role of the Associate Chief Nurse is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who has ambitions to become a Chief Nurse. We will provide a robust development package that will support your aspiration. This post is for someone who is able to manage a demanding and busy portfolio, who has the confidence to work autonomously and above all else is a credible and authentic registered nurse able to lead by example.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust(SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.
