We are looking for talented, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Software Applications team supporting this major National software application that forms the backbone of the NHS in Wales.
Someone who has had either grass roots experience of the Welsh Admin Portal or has helped develop or support equivalent systems in the past you will be required to take a flexible and innovative approach combined with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to ensure that the application performs to the requirements of its users. You will take responsibility for leading all operational aspects of the Welsh Admin Portal.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for software professionals who have the enthusiasm, creativity and skill to support an application and software that helps Clinicians deliver better patient care. We want people who consider software as a craft and are diligent in producing robust working software that meets the needs of users.
Our approach to learning is by doing and from day one your focus will be on helping us deliver software to users. We will provide you with the opportunities to ask for help and guidance but we also encourage you to have the enthusiasm, drive and aptitude to also develop your skills independently and become an effective senior team member.

You will take responsibility for leading the operational and developmental aspects of the Welsh Admin Portal.

This is an excellent opportunity for those with extensive operational IT experience who wish to work at a national level. Understanding a broad range of infrastructure and software technologies is essential to this post as is an excellent understanding of Problem, Change and Release management. You will be required to:
Management, operation support and development of the Welsh Admin Portal
Line management responsibilities for a team of application operations engineers
Configuration and performance of the solution
Becoming the subject expert to provide guidance and technical advice to colleagues and NHS staff
Managing change requirements
Other areas of the role will be to work with our customer organisations, Welsh Government and other health services to help lead us in the future direction of referral systems in Wales as well make sure the current system always remains operational.
