Applications are invited for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at Colchester Hospital, part of East Suffolk & North Essex Foundation NHS Trust.

The Dame Clare Marx building - Essex & Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC), opened in November, 2024. ESEOC hubs 8 Elective Orthopaedic theatres and 3 elective wards. The centre is ring fenced to provide elective care and Ambulatory trauma.

The post holder’s duties will be based primarily at Colchester Hospital and Dame Clare Marx building, but their presence may from time to time be required in other parts of the Trust.

The Trust Doctor will have the principle responsibility of supporting the Orthopaedic team. Additionally the post-holder will take part in the out of hour’s rota. Responsibilities will include involvement in a regular teaching programme as well as participating in weekly meetings and monthly audit meetings. The post-holder’s clinical duties will include, care of ward patients, all aspects of elective orthopaedic trauma, admission and primary care of emergencies, attending the operating theatre for trauma and elective lists and have the opportunity for training, audit and clinical research. The post-holder will also participate in the departments full shift rota.
