Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Service Development Lead the development and delivery of the practices strategic and operational plans. Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and transformation across clinical and administrative services. Analyse population health data, demand trends, and performance metrics to inform service redesign. Support the implementation of digital tools, online access, and modern care navigation models. Represent the practice within the PCN, ICB, and wider NHS system, contributing to collaborative projects. 2. Operational Management Oversee daytoday running of the practice, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operations. Develop, implement, and maintain robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Manage patient access systems, appointment capacity planning, and workflow optimisation. Ensure effective management of clinical rotas, staff scheduling, and contingency planning. Lead on business continuity, emergency planning, and risk management. 3. HR & People Leadership Provide strong, supportive leadership to administrative and reception teams. Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management processes. Foster a positive, inclusive, and high performing culture aligned with NHS values. Conduct appraisals, identify training needs, and support staff development. Handle employee relations matters in line with employment law and best practice. 4. Finance & Business Management Oversee practice finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Maximise income streams (GMS/PMS/APMS, QOF, IIF, enhanced services, PCN funding). Monitor expenditure, manage contracts, and ensure value for money. Lead with practice partners on procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation. Ensure accurate patient list management and compliance with registration processes. 5. Governance, Compliance & Quality Ensure full compliance with CQC standards and lead on preparation for inspections. Maintain robust systems for clinical governance, information governance, and health & safety. Oversee safeguarding processes and mandatory training compliance. Manage complaints, incidents, and significant event reviews, ensuring learning and improvement. Ensure GDPR compliance and act as Data Protection Officer (if appropriate). 6. Patient Experience & Engagement Champion a culture of excellent patient service and equitable access. Lead on patient communication, including digital channels, website content, and practice messaging. Work with the Patient Participation Group (PPG) to gather feedback and codesign improvements. Monitor patient satisfaction data (e.g., GP Patient Survey, Friends & Family Test) and implement action plans. 7. Digital, IT & Data Management Oversee clinical systems (e.g. SystmOne), telephony, and digital infrastructure. Ensure accurate coding, data quality, and reporting for QOF, IIF, and contractual returns. Support digital transformation initiatives, including online triage and remote consultations. Maintain cybersecurity standards and ensure staff follow safe digital practices.
