Job Purpose The post holder will work as a General Practitioner delivering high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the practice population. This role is offered with a clear opportunity to progress to GP Partnership, supporting the long-term sustainability, leadership, and development of the practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, a commitment to continuity of care, and an interest in contributing to the strategic, operational, and financial direction of the practice. Key Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, safe, and effective primary medical care to registered patients. Undertake routine and urgent consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and online) as required. Manage acute and chronic conditions in line with evidence-based practice and national/local guidelines. Provide continuity of care and holistic management of patients with complex needs. Undertake home visits where required. Review and action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and hospital letters in a timely manner. Review results of other colleagues when on leave and deal with appropriately Prescribe in accordance with practice policies and local formularies. Participate in clinical audits, significant event analyses, and quality improvement initiatives. Be a Lead in a clinical area as required this may be in long term conditions, Mental Health, Prescribing, Safeguarding, Learning and Research, CQC Lead Professional Responsibilities Maintain GMC registration, appraisal, and revalidation requirements. Participate in clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management activities. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with GDPR and practice policies. Engage in continuous professional development (CPD). Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including nursing, pharmacy, and administrative colleagues. Teaching, Training, and Leadership Support training and development of the wider clinical team, including students, trainees, and allied health professionals where appropriate. Contribute to a positive learning culture within the practice. Looking to support students by completing the GP trainer program within 12 months of joining practice. Demonstrate emerging leadership skills and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities over time. Work with the Practice Manager on new ways of working to take the practice forward financially and delivery of contractual changes Practice Development and Partnership Pathway Contribute to the strategic development of the practice, including service redesign and quality improvement. Engage with practice meetings, planning sessions, and wider Primary Care Network (PCN) initiatives. Develop an understanding of the operational, financial, and contractual aspects of general practice. Understanding of the contractual obligations and the CQC expectations within primary care Work towards increased involvement in leadership, management, or clinical lead roles in preparation for potential partnership. Other Responsibilities Comply with all practice policies, including health and safety, information governance, and equality and diversity. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as agreed with the partners and practice manager Person Specification Qualifications and Registration (Essential) MBBS (or equivalent medical qualification) Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List Evidence of ongoing appraisal and revalidation Experience (Essential) Experience working as a General Practitioner in UK primary care Experience managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions Experience working within a multidisciplinary primary care team Experience (Desirable) Experience in a substantive or long-term GP role Experience contributing to clinical audits or quality improvement projects Experience or interest in clinical leadership, service development, or teaching Knowledge and Skills (Essential) Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise care safely Sound knowledge of NHS primary care systems, pathways, and governance IT literate, including use of clinical systems SystmOne Knowledge and Skills (Desirable) Understanding of the business, financial, and contractual aspects of general practice Experience with PCN working and enhanced services Interest in developing specialist clinical areas Personal Attributes (Essential) Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care Professional, reliable, and ethical approach to practice Ability to work flexibly and adapt to service needs Willingness to engage in practice development and future partnership discussions Personal Attributes (Desirable) Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in long-term practice sustainability Motivation to progress into a GP Partnership role Leadership potential and a collaborative approach to decision-making Equality Statement The practice is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
