Main Duties
Efficient Waste Collection and Transportation
-This involves the timely and effective collection of waste from various sources.
-Safe transportation of waste to designated processing or disposal sites.
-Operating an assigned vehicle weighing up to 7.5 tonnes, including lorries, transporters or trucks.
-Ensuring that loads are safe and properly secured.
-Safely operating a forklift to move materials around, including loading and unloading trucks, stacking pallets, transporting goods to designated storage areas, and ensuring the integrity of the transported items while adhering to all Safety Regulations and Procedures.
Hazardous Waste Transportation
-ADR driver responsible for safely transporting dangerous goods by road, ensuring compliance with ADR regulations.
-Whilst transporting dangerous goods you will, thoroughly checking vehicle and load documentation, properly securing the cargo, understanding emergency procedures for the specific hazardous materials being carried, and taking immediate action in case of any incidents or spills.
-Preparing hazardous waste for transportation, including proper labelling and packaging.
-Ensuring accurate documentation of waste transportation.
Waste Segregation and Recycling
-Maximising the amount of waste that can be diverted from landfills.
-Ensuring that recyclable materials are processed according to regulations.
Hazardous Waste Identification and Classification
-Accurately identifying and classifying different types of Hazardous Waste based on their properties (for example, flammable, corrosive, toxic).
-Understanding and applying relevant regulations and guidelines for Waste Classification.
Safe Handling and Storage of Hazardous Waste
-Implementing safe handling procedures to minimise the risk of spills, leaks, and exposure.
-Ensuring proper storage of Hazardous Waste in designated containers and areas, in compliance with regulations.
-Monitoring storage conditions to prevent deterioration or reactions.
Documentation and Record Keeping
-Maintaining meticulous records of all Hazardous Waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal activities.
-Completing all required regulatory paperwork, including manifests and reports.
Maintaining Public Health and Hygiene
-Preventing the spread of contamination through proper waste handling.
-Keeping public spaces clean and free from waste accumulation.
Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations
-Following strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
-Using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

-Ability to operate equipment and machinery safely (for example, bin lifts, compactor, baler).
