A Vacancy at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust.


This is a reconfigured community post as a 1.0 WTE Consultant in Learning Disability Psychiatry for Children and Young People (CYPLD). The post holder be wholly responsible for the community service in Coventry and Nuneaton and working alongside another consultant colleague who provides community CYP LD services for Rugby and South Warwickshire.

The post is based on a 10 PA job plan with a caseload of approximately 100 young people.

Doctors are expected to follow the professional rules and guidance as set out by the General Medical Council including Good Medical Practice and Maintaining High Professional Standards.

The post holder's main objective would be to provide medical input to the Coventry CYP LD team who provide assessment and treatment for children and young people of school age with moderate to severe learning disability. This will include completing assessments, providing consultation to other professionals, overseeing multidisciplinary treatment plans and appropriately prescribing medication if required.

In particular, they would be expected to assess complex cases such as:
- where there is a significant risk of self-harm, harm to others or risk of neglect
- where there is diagnostic uncertainty or complexity
- where the interaction of potential illness and personality factors needs to be evaluated.
