We are seeking an experienced Technical Services Director to lead the operational delivery of Hard FM and Projects across a large and diverse contract portfolio.
This senior leadership role ensures safe, legal, and compliant technical service delivery while driving continuous improvement, commercial performance, and customer satisfaction.
You will provide strategic oversight across all technical services, leading a small, senior team of technical experts spanning Hard FM, M&E, Asbestos, Water, Asset Management, BIM and associated specialist disciplines.
Job Description
As Technical Services Director, you will oversee all aspects of technical service operations, including managing heads of service, specialist subcontractors, and wider operational teams.
You will act as a trusted advisor on technical matters, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and industry standards.
This role requires strategic leadership, financial accountability, and strong collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver technical services aligned with company strategy, ensuring safety, legality, and compliance.
Lead Hard FM and Projects across the contract, with full accountability for performance across a circa £250m portfolio.
Lead and develop technical workstreams, acting as deputy duty holder for technical matters.
Drive continuous improvement through asset data enhancement and lifecycle planning.
Maximise revenue opportunities, including project work and customer investment.
Ensure commercial responsibility, meeting budgets and financial targets.
Oversee periodic reporting, audits, and compliance documentation.
Develop succession plans for key positions within technical service functions.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve corporate objectives.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Significant leadership experience within an operational technical environment.
Senior management experience across large, diverse regional portfolios.
In-depth understanding of technical FM contracts, statutory compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Proven experience leading Hard FM, M&E, Asset Management, and specialist technical disciplines.
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large-value contracts.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to operate with gravitas and credibility at senior levels.
Action-oriented decision-maker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable: Authorised Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) and Responsible Person (Water).
Full UK driving licence (essential).
