Job Vacancy: SEN Humanities Teacher – Specialist Secondary School

Location: Worthing, West Sussex
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026

Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in a specialist SEN setting?

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable SEN Humanities Teacher to join a supportive SEN secondary school team. The school caters for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.

About the Role

You will:

Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons (e.g., History, Geography, PSHE, RE) adapted to meet diverse learning needs

Differentiate the curriculum to support pupils working at varying academic levels

Use creative and practical approaches to inspire engagement and curiosity

Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, and pastoral staff

Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans

Foster independence, confidence, and life skills

We Are Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching Humanities at KS3 and/or KS4

A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice (experience in SEN desirable but not essential)

Excellent behaviour management skills

Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach

A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
