Welsh Language Translation Officer needed in Newport, South Wales, £16.35ph PAYE - Reference: OR24281
- Provide a translation and proofreading service for documents.
- Assist in the management of existing Welsh medium files, project records and correspondence
- Where necessary provide guidance to Officers on how to use both the Welsh and English language effectively when producing documents in line with the Welsh Language Standards.
- Work with relevant Officers in maintaining the Welsh Language Website and social media channels in order to provide bilingual information in line with the Welsh Language Standards.
- Where necessary support the Welsh Language Policy Officer in the administration arrangements connected with documents that may need to be translated by an external company.
- Provide verbal translation services as required.
- To support the implementation of the Welsh Language Standards, working with the Welsh Language Policy Officer to provide expertise to the organisation.
- To support change in corporate culture and service delivery.
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with national bodies, statutory regulators, and community organisations, including the Welsh Language Commissioner
- To support delivery of the five-year Welsh Language Strategy, working with internal and external partners.
- Monitor any new developments relating to Welsh language translation and terminology, particularly proposals from the Welsh Language Commissioner, the Welsh Government and Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (the national Welsh translators association).
- To work in partnership with the Senior Equalities Officer and Welsh Language Policy officer to ensure Welsh language is embedded within the approach to equality and fairness
- Support initiatives to promote the Welsh Language in the workplace and delivery of training to staff to develop understanding and use of the Welsh Language.
- Attend relevant training as part of professional development and attend Welsh language events, i.e. representing the Client as part of the Welsh Language and Equalities team.
- To carry out other duties as may be reasonably required by the Policy and Partnership Manager
This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
