About the Role
-We are looking for a Community Development Worker to grow and embed our work across The Wirral and Langley.
-This is a front-facing, relationship-driven role focused on building long-term community partnerships, expanding access to our food services, and making sure Can Cook is part of local decision-making around food, regeneration and planning.
-You will also be a local advocate for our campaigning messages — affordable fresh food, UPF-free eating, and practical solutions to hunger — ensuring they are central to everything we do locally.

What You’ll Be Doing
-Building strong, lasting relationships with community groups, residents, councils, housing providers and local partners
-Developing and expanding Can Cook’s meal services, food training and mobile shop in both districts
-Representing Can Cook at local planning, regeneration and food partnership meetings
-Promoting our UPF-free approach and campaigning messages through local engagement and events
-Identifying local funding opportunities and supporting funding bids
-Feeding community insight back into service development and organisational learning

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to tick every box, but you should bring:
-Experience in community development, partnership working or grassroots delivery
-Confidence representing an organisation and influencing local conversations
-A strong belief in food justice, dignity and practical solutions to hunger
-The ability to work independently across two locations
-A clear alignment with our UPF-free, campaigning approach
-Experience of community food projects, social enterprise, funding bids or local systems is a bonus — but not essential.

Why Join Us?
-Be part of a values-led, campaigning organisation
-Shape real, practical food solutions that work for communities
-Help challenge the dominance of ultra-processed food
-Work in a role with autonomy, purpose and influence
-Potential for the role to become permanent

How to Apply
To apply, please submit:
-A CV
-A short supporting statement outlining why you’re interested and how your experience fits the role
