About The Role
Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
Want to be a part of it?
What will you be doing?
As our Process Engineer, you'll form a key part of the Design Team. Reporting to the Design Manager and contributing to the development and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure solutions. You’ll help transform early concepts into practical, efficient, and sustainable outcomes, ensuring process designs are safe, compliant, and aligned with performance, cost, and environmental objectives.
In this role, you'll develop and refine treatment process designs, carry out detailed engineering assessments—including mass balances, hydraulic modelling, equipment sizing, and system capacity checks. Produce essential technical documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and reports. You'll also review supplier proposals, embed process safety and risk‑management principles. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to assist with design integration, model development, and structured design reviews. Ensuring all outputs meet industry standards, regulatory expectations, and internal governance.
You'll contribute to safe‑by‑design principles under CDM, assist with technical problem‑solving during project delivery. Help maintain programme, cost, and quality commitments by identifying risks early and effective decision‑making. Your work will also support innovation, sustainability, and carbon‑reduction initiatives through digital tools and continuous improvement. This position allows you to influence the full project lifecycle while strengthening both your technical expertise and collaborative impact.
What you'll bring

- A Degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- Practical experience within water, wastewater, or another process-intensive sector.
- A solid grounding in treatment process fundamentals, design methodologies, and performance optimization.
- Experience preparing or supporting technical documentation such as calculations, reports, specifications, and design drawings.
- An understanding of engineering risk management and health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to infrastructure projects.
- The ability to interpret data, apply sound engineering judgement, and solve technical problems effectively.
- Confidence in using digital engineering tools, modelling software, and standard IT applications.
- A proactive mindset with a strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
- A genuine interest in sustainable design and environmentally responsible engineering practices.
