Third in Charge – Up to £30,000

The nursery hums with activity as children move between rooms and the outdoor area. As Third-in-Charge, you will support the Deputy and Nursery Manager in running the nursery while remaining hands-on with care and learning. You’ll take responsibility for supervising staff, supporting room routines, and ensuring children receive high-quality experiences throughout the day.

Before You Apply

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification is required.
  • Recent nursery or early years experience is essential.
  • Applicants must be confident supporting daily room routines and working independently when required.

Key Job Details

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week

What You’ll Need

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Proven leadership experience within a Nursery (Room Leader, Third In Charge)
  • Sound understanding of EYFS framework and safeguarding
  • Confidence delivering care and learning independently
  • Ability to support and supervise colleagues within the room

What You’ll Do

  • Support the Deputy and Nursery Manager in the smooth running of the nursery
  • Assist in supervising staff and supporting room routines
  • Deliver hands-on care and learning in line with EYFS
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s development accurately
  • Plan and adapt activities to children’s interests and needs
  • Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory standards
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues to organise daily activities and room setup
