Summary
Third in Charge – Up to £30,000
The nursery hums with activity as children move between rooms and the outdoor area. As Third-in-Charge, you will support the Deputy and Nursery Manager in running the nursery while remaining hands-on with care and learning. You’ll take responsibility for supervising staff, supporting room routines, and ensuring children receive high-quality experiences throughout the day.
Before You Apply
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification is required.
- Recent nursery or early years experience is essential.
- Applicants must be confident supporting daily room routines and working independently when required.

What You’ll Need
- Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Proven leadership experience within a Nursery (Room Leader, Third In Charge)
- Sound understanding of EYFS framework and safeguarding
- Confidence delivering care and learning independently
- Ability to support and supervise colleagues within the room
What You’ll Do
- Support the Deputy and Nursery Manager in the smooth running of the nursery
- Assist in supervising staff and supporting room routines
- Deliver hands-on care and learning in line with EYFS
- Observe, assess, and record children’s development accurately
- Plan and adapt activities to children’s interests and needs
- Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress
- Collaborate with colleagues to organise daily activities and room setup
