Role Overview:
As a Support Worker at the Aldingbourne Trust, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism to live fulfilling, independent lives. You’ll provide person-centred support across a range of settings including supported living, day services, and community-based activities. We offer Full Time 37.5 hours, Part Time 16-25 hours and Bank / Relief, we cover Day, Evening, Sleep-In 7 days a week, on a rota.
The trust supports c1800 individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, in multiple settings, including their own homes, small and medium sized projects along the Bognor Regis Coast, all living independently with daily or weekly support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build trusting relationships with individuals to understand their goals, preferences, and needs.
• Support individuals with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, some personal care, and medication support
• Encourage and facilitate participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
• Promote independence and choice in all aspects of life.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning.
• Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and external professionals.
• Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times.
Requirements:
• A genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience in a care or support role is desirable but not essential.
• A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care) is an advantage.
• Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional development.
