You’ll play a key part in creating safe, well‑maintained spaces that colleagues and patients can trust. You’ll take pride in delivering work that has a positive impact on the community, supporting a sustainable, future‑focused healthcare environment.
What you’ll do as a Carpenter You’ll be entrusted to:
- Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning and maintenance across a wide range of services, plant and equipment, including fire doors, fire stopping and flooring.
- Complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across building fabric and equipment.
- Work in accordance with all Serco policies, workplace regulations and best‑practice guidelines.
- Proactively support the development and review of health and safety systems and safe working practices.
- Communicate unresolved faults, defects or parts requirements to supervisors or managers.
- Train, develop and mentor apprentices, trainees and colleagues as required.
Does this sound like you? You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- A recognised apprenticeship or structured technical training programme.
- Level 3 qualification (e.g., NVQ, Diploma, Certificate) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a similar environment, ideally within healthcare
- Knowledge and understanding of building fabric systems
- Strong communication and customer‑focused skills.
- Vetting and checks:
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
