Site Manager – Main Contractor – Sites Within 1 Hour of St Albans – New Build & Refurbishment (50/50)
Projects £1m–£10m, with wider schemes up to £40m

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager to join a respected and successful main contractor delivering a diverse range of construction projects across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, North London and surrounding areas within one hour of St Albans. This role suits a driven Site Manager who takes pride in delivering high‑quality projects safely, efficiently, and to programme.

The company delivers a balanced mix of new‑build and refurbishment schemes (50/50 split) across commercial buildings, education, healthcare, heritage, leisure, community facilities, residential developments, fit‑outs and complex refurbishments. The General Contracts–style division typically undertakes projects between £1m and £10m, with the wider business capable of delivering schemes up to £40m. You will join a strong operational and commercial team with a stable pipeline and long‑standing client relationships.

What the Role Involves
Leading and coordinating the site team to deliver the build programme efficiently and to the highest standards. Ensuring full compliance with health and safety, building regulations and internal quality procedures. Conducting inspections, snagging and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. Monitoring cost, programme and quality, proactively managing risks to avoid delays or additional costs. Driving a culture of teamwork, professional conduct and continuous improvement across the site. Liaising with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and external partners to maintain smooth, on‑time delivery.

About You
You will have proven experience as a Site Manager with a UK main contractor, delivering new‑build and refurbishment projects. You will have strong knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, health and safety legislation, temporary works, quality control and subcontractor management. You will be confident leading site teams, managing programme, maintaining high standards of workmanship and ensuring compliance at all stages. SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid are preferred.

Why This Role Stands Out
You will work on diverse, high‑quality construction projects across multiple sectors, typically between £1m and £10m, with opportunities to support larger schemes up to £40m. The business offers stability, a strong pipeline, a collaborative culture and genuine long‑term progression opportunities.

Package and Benefits
Competitive salary, car or travel allowance, private healthcare, additional employee benefits and a clear progression pathway.
