Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Special Education School in Aberdare
Location: Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales
Salary: £88.92 per day minimum (DOE)
Job Description:
An established specialist education provider is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a special school in Aberdare. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity to support learners with diverse needs, including ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder, and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs and possess relevant experience. Key Responsibilities:
Support and supervise learners with SEN, including ASD, PDA, and challenging behaviours
Assist learners at the start and end of the school day
Prepare classrooms for lessons and support staff in lesson delivery
Work with learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
Support learners during break times and lunchtime
Engage learners in classroom and out-of-classroom activities
Follow the school's behaviour management policies
Requirements:
At least 3 months of experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings; SEN experience preferred
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC); support available for registration
Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
References covering the last two years (no gaps)
