Crynodeb
My clients are a very well-established busy freight forwarder-based Manchester M50 postcode. They are committed to delivering a fast, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solution. We are now looking for them an Assistant Imports – Global Freight Management. Initially temp week to week to cover sickness. May end up permanent.
Monday – Friday 37.5 hours
Hourly rate £15.40 per hour
Purpose of Role:
Working within the busy Freight Management team, the purpose of the role is to manage key customer’s requirements relating to their freight shipments.
Key Tasks:
• Organising the imports of varied cargo by any or a combination of transport modes
• Liaise with customers to obtain shipment authorisations
• Monitor and manage cargo movements from origin to final point of destination
• Ensure full compliance of appropriate legislation, regulations, and all documentation relevant to the movement of cargo
• Provide regular communication to customers of shipment progress and resolve any service issues that might arise
• Manage Customs processes necessary for the import of shipments
• Manage bookings through online shipping line portals
• Maintain own P & L’s weekly
• Prepare documents for invoicing
• Championing advanced level use of CargoWise One
• To perform any other duties not defined in the job description as reasonably requested / expected by the Company
Personal Qualities:
• A methodical approach with excellent communication skills
• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• An understanding of the importance of attention to detail and quality of product
• A flexible hands-on approach to work and willing to complete a variety of tasks
• Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
• Ability to work within a team and on own initiative
Knowledge and Experience:
• Previous experience of international shipping process and Freight Forwarding
• Previous experience of working with CargoWise One
• Knowledge of multimodal import and/or cross trade activities
• Proficient in the use of work/excel and outlook
• Previous administrative experience is essential
• Excellent organisational, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Previous experience of working within a fast-paced environment
