Salary: £12.16 – £14.24 per hour (depending on age)
Contract: Seasonal / Temporary
Hours: 8:30am–4:30pm OR 9:30am–5:30pm (venue dependent)
Expenses: 30p per mile after the first 35 miles per day (uplift available for car share)

Let’s Cook gives young people the chance to explore cooking, learn new skills, and create dishes from around the world. Working in pairs or small groups, junior chefs learn essential life skills through hands on sessions, exploring flavours, techniques and creative twists in a supportive and structured environment.

About the Role
As an Assistant Cookery Teacher, you will support the Cookery Teacher in delivering engaging, safe and high quality cookery sessions. You will work directly with children to help them follow recipes, use equipment safely, and enjoy their cooking experience. You will also help maintain cleanliness, safety and organisation within the cookery space throughout the day.
This role is ideal for anyone with a passion for food, working with children, and creating a fun and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
Pre Camp
• Complete Activate Camps training.
• Complete onboarding tasks accurately and on time.
• Review and understand the timetable and curriculum
During Camp Delivery
• Present professionally in full Activate uniform.
• Support camp set up and registration.
• Assist with Extra Time Club activities.
• Supervise children during downtime, breaks and lunchtime.
• Work alongside the Cookery Teacher to support small groups during sessions.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe cooking environment.
• Assist with washing up and cleaning as required.
• Report hazards or incidents promptly.
• Support reflective practice, encouraging children to celebrate achievements.
• Assist with end of day collection and ensure children have belongings.
• Support the Camp Manager and Cookery Teacher with reasonable requests.
Post Camp
• Pack away equipment safely.
• Take part in staff debriefs.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned, switched off and ready for the next day.

Essential Criteria
• Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
• Basic safeguarding understanding.
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety.
• Passion for working with children.
• Interest in cooking and food.
• Ability to follow recipes confidently.
• Good communication skills with children and parents.
Desirable Criteria
• Teaching, coaching or leadership experience.
• Previous holiday camp experience.
• Cookery instruction experience.
