Crynodeb
An opportunity has arisen for the position of a Harvest Team Leader at our Teesside site, reporting to the Harvest Supervisor. Key aim of the role: Responsible for leading a focused team ensuring all harvest work is carried out in an efficient manner in line with the company goals, Safe Working Practices and Customer Expectations, Quality, Performance, and Protocols.
Responsibilities:
•Ensure all tasks are carried out in a timely manner reducing yield losses and waste.
•Motivate and Mentor team members and assess performance.
•Highlight any issues which may result in forecast not being attained in a timely manner.
•Induction and training of new staff and developing on the job training to maintain core competencies of staff.
•Implementation of Industry best practice – Health, Safety and Environment, Quality and Customer requirements and care.
•Completing equipment and PPE daily/weekly checks and recording them on the relevant documentation.
•Ensuring all paperwork is filed away to be available for site audits.
Operational
•Conduct regular updates on company goals and performance through regular team and individual meetings.
•Monitor the performance of each team member acting on any development issues.
•Assist in training the team to deliver a ‘can do’ attitude’.
•Ensure Labour registration is used effectively daily.
•Apply team problem solving processes to eliminate wasteful activity and issues as they arise.
•Work with the HR team to ensure all company procedures are adhered to in terms of absence and performance.
•Act as conduit to Senior Management raising issues and passing on performance problems.
•Carry out regular quality assessments of produce picked.
Technical
•Assist in all audits.
•Be technically competent regarding growing and harvesting processes to make informed decisions to maximise product quality and minimise waste.
Professional Development
•Attend any necessary training to assist in the role.
•Attain/hold a certificate in supervisory/management at an established level of competency.

Experience
•Relevant experience in managing and motivating staff (fruit growing experience is advantageous)
•Previous people management experience with the ability to educate, train and motivate others.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
