Following appointment: The Fellow will completesix months of training at each centre Competency will be achieved in apre-agreed portfolio of IO procedures, with formal sign-off by the lead trainer at each site Training will include: Transarterial and percutaneous cancer therapies Disease-modifying techniques such as: Percutaneous ablation Transarterial tumour embolisation Radioembolisation Supportive IO skills including biopsy, drainage, and complex stenting Fellows will be expected to actively participate inaudit and research, with the aim of presenting work at an international conference. Additional merit will be awarded to applicants demonstrating a clear strategy to deploy acquired skills to develop or expand IO services. The role involvescross-site workingto maximise exposure to specialist services at each institution. A minimum ofsix programmed activities (PAs)will be dedicated to IR, with additional PAs allocated for reporting, doctor-of-the-day duties, and SPA/research activity. Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be withinsix months of achieving CCT in the six-year RCR Interventional Radiology training pathway. Equivalent training may be considered on a case-by-case basis. -- Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) LUHFT provides an extensive portfolio of vascular and oncological interventions delivered acrossfour IR theatreson two sites and IR CT Intervention suite equipped withSiemens Artis Zee, Artis Pheno and Siemens Somatom Definition Edge systems. LUHFT is one of thelargest TACE centres in the UKand provides access to all currently approved ablation technologies, includingmicrowave ablation, IRE, and cryoablation. The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NFT) NFT provides an extensive portfolio of vascular and oncological interventions delivered acrossfour IR theatres and a CT suite for ablations on two sites. NFT is a liver transplant centre, a tertiary referral centre and the largest SIRT centre for HCC in the UK. Both NFT and LUHFT are tertiary referral centres for numerous IO procedures e.g.: - Liver tumour ablation Renal tumour ablation Lung tumour ablation SIRT (Y90) Portal vein embolization / Double vein embolisation TACE Diagnostic radiology skills will be maintained through dedicated reporting sessions relevant to vascular and oncological practice. The Fellow will be directly supervised throughout the fellowship, with a clear emphasis on developing safe, independent practice.
