Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for an experienced Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair and Make-Up to work on the London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Please note, this role is a job share with a fellow Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair and Make-Up and the successful candidate will be expected to work a 3-day working week.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, this new play by Jack Thorne received its world premiere in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre in summer 2016. The critically acclaimed production is the most awarded West End play in the history of the Olivier Awards, winning a record-breaking nine awards including Best New Play and Best Director in 2017.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to support and deputise for the Head of Wigs, Hair and Make-Up. Candidates should be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure and have strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs smoothly.
Technical skills required include excellent: wig dressing, make-up application and knowledge of make-up. Candidates should be trained in styling Afro-textured hair and have good knowledge and understanding of protective hairstyles. Desirable candidates will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of prosthetic application and products as well as barbering skills.
Experience working on several large-scale productions is essential.

Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU agreement covering a three-day working week.
Weekly Hours: 3-day working weeks, specific schedule TBC.
The usual show schedule is Tuesday to Sunday; 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
