BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
BEAR has responsibility for over 750 bridges and structures including the iconic Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.
We have opportunities for an Engineering Trade to join our NMC SE contract working within our Major Bridges Maintenance Team. The Engineering Trade is an integral part of the Major Bridges Maintenance Team helping deliver the contract to the client at a high quality and standard.
Our Engineering Trade team is made up of a variety of engineering and building trades, making up a very versatile team. You will be joining a knowledgeable close-knit team, who will be glad to share their bridge knowledge and experience.
A full driving licence is essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
Bridge structure, depot repairs and installations.
Access installation (Bespoke bridge system) Full training provided
Undertaking aspects of bridge maintenance works including routine and cyclic activities
Driving/Plant: Carry out vehicle checks, movement of materials, vehicle cleaning, minor maintenance when required.
Record Keeping.
Working at Height / Confined Space
Being part of the Emergency Standby Team – this includes 1-week standby cover
Emergency Rescue Team Participation (full training provided)
Knowledge & Experience:
Qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline, ideally holding a minimum of SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
This role may also be suitable for candidates with scaffolding experience who hold an SVQ Level 2 qualification.
Able to meet strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
Collaborative Team Player
Confident working at height
Able to work safely in a confined space
