Are you an experienced qualified midwife, seeking to enhance and develop your career within a leading London Trust? If the answer is yes then we would love to hear from you!

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic experienced midwife to join the education team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a Fetal Wellbeing Midwife.

You will work alongside the Obstetric Lead for Fetal Wellbeing and the Professional Development Midwives to develop and implement a programme of education and annual competency assessment for all clinical staff that meets the requirements of the Maternity and perinatal Incentive Scheme that aligns to Saving Babies' Lives Care Bundle and the Core Competency Framework.

The role builds on current fetal surveillance practice. You will provide support to our maternity team in fetal surveillance, including fetal growth and fetal heart rate monitoring to inspire and develop confidence, and create a positive learning environment that leads to improved patient outcomes.

Successful candidates will be expected to;
• Act as a role model demonstrating clinical leadership and midwifery expertise in relation to reducing perinatal mortality in line with the Saving Babies Lives Care bundle.
• Promote effective team working, review, plan, implement and maintain elements 2, 3 and 4 of the SBLCB whilst engaging teams in a consistent approach to improve patient experience and outcomes.
• Work autonomously whilst managing and prioritising their own workload.
• Be responsible for ensuring staff are confident and competent at undertaking fundal height measurements and supporting them if problems arise, making appropriate referrals for senior review
Work together with the obstetric and midwifery teams to ensure all staff are trained in the use of any agreed fetal surveilllance system and that audits are performed to ensure compliance is achieved.
• Work closely with the Patient Safety and Bereavement teams to ensure the rates of stillbirth and neonatal brain injury are improving.
• To participate in the review case from ATAIN and PMRT to ensure lessons learnt are embedded in practice.
• Ensure that all midwives and obstetricians providing antenatal and intrapartum care are supported to undertake the annual fetal surveillance competency assessment.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.

Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You’ll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.
