Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Nest ProvisionLocation: Cheltenham, GloucestershireContract Type: Full-Time Salary: £90-£105 per dayStart Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated, patient and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist “Nest” provision within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Cheltenham.
About the RoleThis rewarding role involves working within a small, specialist class of five pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The children have high levels of need and require consistent, skilled adult support to access learning, develop independence, and remain safe within the school environment.
You will work closely alongside the class teacher and a team of Teaching Assistants to:Support pupils with complex SEND needs on their personalised education pathwaysHelp implement tailored learning programmes aligned with EHCP outcomesMaintain a safe, structured and nurturing environmentSupport emotional regulation, communication and social developmentPromote positive behaviour and engagement with learningContribute to regular reviews and planning discussions
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:Experience working with children with complex SEND, ideally within a primary settingKnowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning approachesConfidence supporting children with high needs, including social, emotional and communication difficultiesA calm, consistent and proactive approach to behaviour supportThe ability to work effectively as part of a teamA commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeingRelevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or similar) would be advantageous, though not essential.
