Description
We are seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer to join our dynamic team and take charge of our information management strategies. This pivotal role is designed for a knowledgeable professional who can ensure our organization's information assets are managed effectively, in compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. The Information Governance Officer will develop, implement, and maintain information governance frameworks, including policies and procedures regarding data management, privacy, and security. You'll play a critical role in fostering a culture of compliance and accountability across the organization while providing guidance and support to departments in handling sensitive information. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to oversee information lifecycle management and data protection initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing training programs to ensure all employees understand and uphold our governance standards. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as you'll need to convey complex information governance concepts to a diverse audience while ensuring the organization meets all regulatory obligations. Responsibilities
Develop and implement information governance frameworks and policies.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of information governance practices.
Provide training and support on information governance to staff across the organization.
Oversee data management processes and facilitate data sharing while maintaining security protocols.
Collaborate with IT and legal teams to address data privacy and security issues.
Monitor changing regulations and industry trends to update governance policies accordingly.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Governance, or a related field.
Proven experience in information governance, compliance, or data management roles.
Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR and HIPAA.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
Certification in information governance, data management, or privacy (e.g., CIP, IGP, CIPP) is preferred.
