Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Scaffold Insulation Painting (SIP) Coordinator to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinate all SIP activities across multiple work fronts
- Develop SIP execution plans aligned with project schedules
- Manage scaffolding access strategy to support all construction ME&I work scope
- Supervise SIP supervisors and subcontractor teams
- Ensure compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate inspections with Client, Consultant, and QA/QC teams
- Enforce HSE standards for work at height, coating application, and insulation works
- Monitor progress, productivity, and manpower deployment
- Resolve site constraints, clashes, and technical issues
- Support construction reporting, as-built documentation, and handover dossiers
Key Deliverables
The SIP Coordinator is responsible for overall leadership, planning, and execution of Scaffolding, Thermal Insulation, and Painting/Coating (SIP) activities. The role ensures safe, high-quality, and timely delivery of SIP works while managing interfaces with ME&I construction teams, QA/QC, HSE, and all other subcontractors. Supervise daily SIP activities to ensure compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and drawings, monitor manpower, equipment, and material availability, ensure proper access, tagging, and inspection of scaffolding structures, Coordinate hot work, confined space, and work-at-height permits. Ensure insulation thickness, materials, jacketing, and coatings meet project specifications, verify surface preparation, paint systems, DFT measurements, and curing requirements, Support inspections with Client, Consultant, and QA/QC teams, Address NCRs and ensure corrective actions are implemented Maintain daily progress reports and manpower logs, coordinate and track permits, inspections, and approvals, Support as-built documentation and
handover dossiers, report progress, constraints, and risks to the site SIP lead and construction manager
Who we're looking for
- Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in industrial projects (Oil & Gas, Power, Petrochemical)
- Minimum 5-10 years Superintended or Senior SIP coordination role
- Strong experience in scaffolding systems, insulation works, and industrial coatings
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of COW processes and best practices
- Ability to interpret data and analyse performance metrics
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Understanding of relevant safety regulations and standards
- Scaffolding Supervisor / Inspector Certification
- Advanced scaffolding Card
- CITB-SMSTS
- CCNSG-LATS
- IOSH Health & Safety Trained
