Are you a patient and adaptable Teaching Assistant looking for a varied role combining 1:1 SEMH support and general classroom assistance?
Long Term Futures is working with a supportive primary school in the B77 area to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. This rewarding position involves providing morning 1:1 intervention support for a pupil with SEMH needs, followed by general Teaching Assistant duties within the classroom during the afternoons.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour in the mornings, while contributing to whole-class learning and classroom support in the afternoons. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic role and is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted 1:1 morning support for a pupil with SEMH needs
- Deliver structured interventions focused on emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Build a consistent, positive relationship to support engagement and trust
- Support the pupil during transitions and unstructured times
- Assist the class teacher with general classroom support in the afternoons
- Support small groups and whole-class activities
- Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Calm, resilient and consistent approach
- Confidence delivering 1:1 interventions and behaviour support strategies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
