Permanent opportunity for a Project Design Engineer seeking progression to work 4 days a week Monday - Thursday, no weekend or evening work in the Port Talbot area.

About the Role
We're seeking a detail‑driven and innovative Project Design Engineer to join a growing Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending creative design with practical manufacturing knowledge to deliver precise, high‑quality engineering solutions. You'll take ownership of creating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and developing order‑specific 3D models and drawings that meet exact customer and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate Works Order using the MRP system, meeting project timelines and sign‑off targets.

  • Generate order‑specific CAD models, detailed engineering, and general arrangement drawings.

  • Act as the first technical contact for customer design enquiries and communicate effectively across internal teams.

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards.

  • Provide technical input in design reviews and multidisciplinary project meetings.

  • Investigate and resolve design or production issues, working collaboratively with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Identify training or process improvement needs and help implement them.

About You

  • Experience in a design or engineering role within a manufacturing or technical environment.

  • Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, or BEng in a relevant discipline.

  • Strong knowledge of materials, mechanical properties, and manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient in CAD, 3D modelling, and analysis tools.

  • Could suit a mechanical engineering graduate with CAD, 3D modelling experience within the degree.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.
