Location: Bournville, B30
Weekly Rate: £480-£525
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Contract: Long Term to Permanent
Long Term Futures are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in Bournville (B30). This full-time role will focus on supporting the child both in lessons and with emotional regulation throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will offer consistency, patience and calm guidance, using a nurturing and trauma-informed approach to help the child engage positively in learning and develop emotional resilience.
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs
- Support the pupil's learning in lessons, adapting tasks where needed
- Help with emotional regulation using agreed strategies and interventions
- Build a consistent, trusted relationship to promote emotional safety
- Encourage participation, independence and positive behaviour
- Recognise signs of dysregulation and intervene calmly and effectively
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
- Level 2/3 TA qualification (or equivalent)
- At least 1 year's experience working in a primary school setting
- Experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Skilled in trauma-informed practice and regulation strategies
- Calm, emotionally resilient and confident in a 1:1 setting
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Committed to inclusion, communication and teamwork
- Long-term positions with permanent potential
