Crynodeb
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive Medical P.A. service. They will liaise with all colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, and with internal departments and external agencies to ensure the continuity of patient treatment.
The Medical P.A. is key to the efficient management of the consultant firm. Patient access to healthcare professionals and subsequent treatment planning in the specialist hospital setting relies upon well-co-ordinated organisational and administrative support.

• The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive Medical P.A. service. They will liaise with all colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, and with internal departments and external agencies to ensure the continuity of patient treatment.
• To act as the first point of contact for users of the service, and to proactively deal with telephone enquiries from patients, their Carers, GPs and colleagues in other hospitals in a professional manner.
• To process new patient referrals within Trust and nationally agreed time frames, enabling compliance with quality standards for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
• To pro-actively liaise with the Senior Sister and clerical supervisors within Out Patients to ensure effective clinic management (for example, cancelling, reducing and overbooking clinic lists.)
• To make travel arrangements on behalf of the Consultant(s) in accordance with Trust policies, and to arrange accommodation for visiting doctors as required.
• To take minutes at meetings as required, and to keep records of Consultant and junior medical staff leave.
• To prepare lecture notes and slides for presentations, and type research papers as required.
• To provide reciprocal cover in the absence of Medical P.A. and Medical Secretary colleagues as reasonably requested by management.
