Job Title: Support Worker – Deaf Adults
Location: Blackburn and Lancashire
Salary: £13.68 per hour
Hours: Full-time or Part-time
Job Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Support Worker to join our team in supporting Deaf adults across Blackburn and Lancashire. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and committed to promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion. Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver person-centered social, emotional, and practical support tailored to Deaf adults’ individual needs.
Use BSL and other communication methods to ensure clear understanding and meaningful engagement.
Support individuals with daily living tasks, including personal care, mealtimes, appointments, and accessing community services.
Collaborate with families, care coordinators, healthcare professionals, and advocates to provide holistic and consistent support.
Implement personalized support plans that promote well-being, communication, and autonomy.
Encourage participation in education, employment, recreational, and social opportunities to build confidence and connection.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with safeguarding and data protection policies.
Uphold a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment that respects Deaf culture and identity.
Support individuals with medical or health-related needs as required.
Requirements:
Experience supporting adults with disabilities and/or Deaf individuals is essential.
BSL Level 2 or above
Qualifications in Health & Social Care, Deaf Studies, or a related field are an advantage.
Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of adult safeguarding, confidentiality, and mental capacity principles.
Resilience, adaptability, and a passion for inclusive practice.
