Child Maintenance Service (CMS) relies on high‑quality management information (MI) to improve performance and outcomes for families. As Team Leader for MI Development & Reporting, you will lead a team of Executive Officers (EO) to design, build and assure MI products used by senior leaders and operational managers across CMS and DWP.
You will have line management of a team of EOs and will be required to effectively use all resources available, including leading and developing others to deliver products within timescale and utilising a range of technical / digital products, providing value for money.
These functions and activities play a key role within CMS and across DWP. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading, motivating and supporting your team to work together in a fast‑paced delivery environment; making timely leadership interventions to align with business priorities and continuously improve results.
- Creating a supportive, performance‑driven culture, managing people matters fairly, consistently and inclusively.
- Setting and delivering a team plan/workplan, highlighting successes and escalating risks early with mitigations.
- Building capability for yourself and the team—identifying and taking learning opportunities at the first sensible point, aligned to individual development plans and supported by a range of learning resources.
- Delivering performance analysis and reporting products that are well‑communicated and actively used to support CMS/DWP in delivering its strategy.
- Assuring delivery so that reports, products and written advice are completed on time and in compliance with data security, policy, legislation and senior leadership steers.
- Embedding an assurance strategy so products, reporting and advice are quality‑assured and continuously improved.
- Using clear communication and emotional intelligence to coach and support others, and to challenge and support senior stakeholders appropriately.
- Managing team workloads, attendance, health and safety, and conducting regular performance reviews; proactively addressing risks to performance.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships across CMS and DWP; acting as a focal point for resolving national performance and reporting queries.
- Championing a performance culture through strong, inclusive leadership; providing appropriate challenge and support to Directors and operational leaders.
- Accountable for managing team workloads, attendance, safety and conducting regular performance reviews confidently addressing risks to performance
- Building and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement with colleagues across CMS and DWP – acting as a focal point for helping to resolve national performance and reporting queries.
- Being accountable for supporting a performance culture through strong and effective leadership, providing appropriate challenge and support to Directors and Operational leaders.
