A Personal Assistant is required to support a thirteen-year-old autistic boy with ADHD who lives in Connor Downs.
He is looking for someone with whom he can build a positive relationship and who can provide 1:1 support to help increase his independence outside of school and home.
He enjoys spending time outdoors, including bike riding, woodland walks, and sea swimming. Indoors, he loves gaming.
He has some behaviours that may challenge, as well as vocal and physical tics and a lack of danger awareness. He is self-conscious about his tics, so the ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and able to set clear boundaries to keep him safe while providing reassurance and guidance when needed.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young person in developing greater independence while making a positive impact on his life.
Rate of pay: Starting at £13.50 per hour, with potential for an increase based on skills and experience.
Hours: 5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability.
Requirements: Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
If you would like to apply for this role, please send your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.
Your CV or application form will be passed onto the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.
Please apply by emailing a copy of your CV and quoting the reference code AADP/2004 to: cypdirectpayments@cornwall.gov.uk
