Crynodeb
Lincolnshire County Council are looking to recruit a number of reliable and observant individuals to join our team of experienced Traffic Data Collectors (known internally as enumerators) on an ad-hoc basis in the Spalding and Grantham Area. You will undertake manual traffic surveys and pedestrian counts as part of the County Councils routine traffic monitoring programme. The work will involve undertaking manual traffic data including volume, classification and directional surveys at regular programmed sites as well as any ad-hoc surveys and other activities as required to support transport planning, highway improvements, and infrastructure projects.
You should be reliable, punctual, and be able to work independently. You should be numerate with good communication skills, providing valuable, accurate data to support Highway schemes. You must follow all safety procedures, including wearing correct PPE and working safely near highways.
You should be aware that the nature of some surveys will require you to work out of the car in order to conduct the surveys, which may have to be undertaken in inclement weather.
The role involves travel within your operational area, including rural locations, evenings, weekends, or early mornings. Ideally, you will live nearby and have access to a vehicle or be able to travel by an alternative method. For the majority of surveys an early morning start is required, to be on site for a 7:00 am with routine surveys finishing at 7:00pm.
The hours of the work will be on an as and when basis and will be dependent upon the number of surveys required to be carried out each month. The normal traffic survey season runs from March to October and you must be available to work on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
In addition you may be needed to undertake letter drops on behalf of Highway departments, this will require you to walk around towns and villages delivering letters to residential or business addresses and you will be required to get yourself to and from the specified location
This is a flexible, as‑and‑when role ideal for anyone looking for casual work, outdoor activity, or additional income.
Some previous experience of survey work would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given, we will pay you hourly for your work and will be paid your mileage to and from survey locations, we will also provide you with PPE and you will be supported from Enumerator Supervisors and experienced survey staff
The number of days and hours will vary from week to week and can occasionally include working out of normal office hours.
If that sounds like something you would be interested in, whether you can offer a few days a month or something more regular, we would love to hear from you.
If you would like an open and informal discussion regards this role then please contact; Sarah Smith via email Sarahe.smith@lincolnshire.gov.uk
Closing date: 1/03/26
Interviews: week commencing 09/03/26.
