Job Description
Cycle Instructor
The Job - Do you love cycling?
If so, then a career as a Cycle Instructor could be perfect for you! This is a great opportunity if you are looking for a challenging and rewarding career, training is provided, so no experience is necessary.
As a Cycle Instructor, you will provide instruction and support to participants in our cycle training programmes. You will help them to develop their skills and confidence, and ultimately achieve their goals.

The Position
Are you motivated by the opportunity to teach the next generation of cyclists? Do you have what it takes to instil confidence in budding bikers?
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable cyclists to join our team and deliver fun, safe, and engaging Bikeability training. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality sessions in schools and community settings.
This is a flexible casual role and sessions are delivered between 8am - 3pm, the hours are typically 9 - 20 hours per week.

Successful candidates will be provided with the cycle instructor training qualification - 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training (T & C's apply)

Responsibilities:
• Assist with the delivery of National Standard Cycle training as organised by First Step Sports.
• Load and unload equipment.
• Complete course registers, assessments, course reports and results (training will be provided)
• Complete risk assessments of the trainees, cycles, and the training area (including on-road locations)
• Accountable for the safety and welfare of colleagues and trainees.
• Ensure training is delivered in line with First Step Sports’ health and safety policy with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
• Enable trainees to cycle safely, promoting cycling as a means of transport and a fun, healthy activity
• Dress professionally – In line with the First Step Sports Uniform (provided).

Knowledge and Experience Requirements
• Regular and competent cyclist.
• Understanding and awareness of road and traffic environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all trainees including children, parents and schools.
• Be decisive, maintain good discipline, inspire confidence and give encouragement.
• First Aid and Child Protection Training (these are mandatory qualifications for the role, please note if you do not have First Aid we can enrol you onto a course - costs will apply, Safeguarding training is free).
• Understand basic cycle maintenance (Desirable)

The recruitment process will consist of three stages: a telephone interview, a practical assessment, and a face-to-face interview.
