Crynodeb
The appointee will spend a significant amount of their time in theatre developing surgical skills. The remainder of their time will involve patients management on the Cardiac Critical care unit and the fellows are responsible for everyday care of the patient including daily ward rounds in CICU and the ward. They are expected to attend weekly teaching sessions, cardiology/cardiac surgery MDT and echocardiography meetings. An appointee will have opportunities to attend outpatient clinics, taking part in the pre-operative assessment clinics and also in post-operative clinics. The post-holder will participate in the cardiac surgery SpR on-call rota (1:6). This is an on-call non-resident system. The post described is not officially a designated training post and does not carry an NTN number. When on call, the successful candidate will provide CICU cover (covering the nurse practitioners) and senior advice to the post-operative cardiac surgery ward based patients (junior cover of ward patients being provided by the Hospital at Night scheme). The candidate must be responsible for up to date data input, typing / dictating the letters and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
