The Team
The PSFA was launched on the 3rd August 2022 following an increased focus in government on tackling fraud. It succeeded the Government Counter Fraud Function (GCFF) in the Cabinet Office. The PSFA is at the centre of this function and leads work across government and public bodies to improve the prevention, detection and recovery of fraud. The PSFA is outcome and performance driven, offers a depth and breadth of expertise and works jointly with HMT to tackle fraud in the public sector.
PSFA Intelligence Hub
The PSFA Intelligence Hub was established as a direct response to the emerging threat of the C-19 pandemic and the rapidly changing frauds being committed against schemes which were rolled out to provide support for the public. The need was identified for a centralised Intelligence function to facilitate and coordinate the flow of information across Government as well as providing the general public with an anonymous route to report information.
The PSFA Intelligence Hub is now in the design and development phase as it seeks to evolve and provide additional support for the wider Public Sector in combating fraud, corruption and bribery. The team is dedicated to enabling flows of intelligence across the Public Sector with a view to developing both Tactical and Strategic views around the threat of fraud targeting Governments £800bn annual spend. Critical to this process is the provision, to departments with reduced capacity and capability and other agencies, of intelligence that would not normally be known to or available in their own organisations.
The new PSFA Intelligence Model and Strategy was scheduled to be launched in March 2024 so this is an exciting opportunity to join a team, and an organisation dedicated to making a difference to how the Public Sector understands and deals with fraud committed against it.
We are looking for an experienced Intelligence Officer who is passionate about professionalising, facilitating and coordinating intelligence across the public sector.
They will be involved in the acquisition, evaluation and dissemination of intelligence relating to fraud being committed against the Public Sector with a significant focus on the prevention of fraud. This will be with a view to detecting and protecting the Public Sector from the fraud threat it faces.
They will have an ability to gather, interpret and use complex data in order to develop actionable steps with a view to improving the counter fraud response of the Public Sector as well as driving enforcement actions against perpetrators.
Key deliverables and responsibilities will include:
- Ability to research, gather, evaluate, develop, analyse and disseminate intelligence
- Providing expert input into guidance, to increase departmental intelligence capacity and capability.
- Build up the intelligence picture and linking in with the analyst
- Collate and validate intelligence with an ability to evaluate credibility and the source.
- Leading engagement with cross sector stakeholders in law enforcement and business sectors to maintain established intelligence flows and receive feedback.
- Production of Intelligence Reports to be sent to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to understand information to identify potential offences, key information and then extract to ensure it is with the appropriate stakeholder.
- Developing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to understand intelligence requirements in order to drive the intelligence process
- Have a positive and focused attitude to achieving outcomes, despite any setbacks.
