Supply Chain & Purchasing Coordinator

  • Permanent, Full-time
  • Location: Harlow, Essex
  • Salary: £35,000 PA
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm

Role Overview:
We are looking for a proactive Supply Chain & Purchasing Coordinator to join this leading, established engineering manufacturer of bespoke machinery.

The successful candidate will process sales and purchase orders and help ensure the smooth operation of our supply chain. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with experience in purchasing or sales order processing within a manufacturing environment, who is confident working with MRP/ERP systems and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process sales and purchase orders from internal and external customers accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability and delivery schedules.
  • Track and update order statuses; proactively communicate progress to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve order discrepancies, delivery issues and invoice queries.
  • Maintain and develop the company MRP system; recommend improvements to purchasing practices (global scope).
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Support stock and material management, including basic forecasting and inventory checks.
  • Help manage key supplier relationships and support supplier performance monitoring.
  • Assist with manufacturing exception / problem handling related to materials and orders.
  • Process and track returns/RMAs.
  • Administer inbound transport and related documentation.
  • Produce regular reports on departmental activities.

Person Specification:

  • Significant experience in sales, purchasing or supply chain, ideally in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP an advantage).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience liaising with suppliers and managing multiple priorities.
  • Able to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Full driving licence and own vehicle.
