About the role
To lead the scoping, design and development of strategically aligned, end‑to‑end learning programmes to build critical skills across Tesco Group.
This includes shaping full programme architectures—not just standalone modules—to create a coherent learner journey from needs analysis through to evaluation.
You will combine strategic insight with practical delivery, providing expert guidance and influencing senior leaders to prioritise the development solutions that best support our business objectives.
You will bring strong digital acumen and a forward‑looking understanding of AI, automation and emerging learning technologies, ensuring programme design is modern, scalable and aligned to the future skills needed across the Group.

You will be responsible for
In this role you will build digital and AI literacy and support development of strategic skills across Tesco. You will:
• Partner with senior stakeholders across all markets to understand priorities, influence decisions and ensure capability solutions address business needs.
• Lead the end‑to‑end design of learning programmes, from diagnostics through design, development, blended pathways, implementation and evaluation. Including curating learning pathways, designing bespoke interventions, developing frameworks to maximise social learning, develop pathways for professional certifications and accreditations.
• Use data and insight to shape programme architecture and recommend the right interventions at the right time.
• Build advocacy for Digital and AI capability across the group by establishing advocacy networks.
• Manage complex stakeholder groups—including senior leaders, SMEs, delivery teams and external partners—to maintain alignment and timely decision‑making.
• Provide expert, evidence‑based challenge to guide learning strategy and shape stakeholder thinking.
• Ensure programmes integrate skills, behaviours and values, delivering measurable impact on colleague, manager and business performance.
• Champion digital learning technologies, AI‑enabled tools and data‑driven insights to enhance design, learner experience and efficiency.
• Identify and embed AI capabilities (e.g. personalisation, adaptive learning, automation) within programme architecture.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and external best practice to inform future learning strategy and strengthen Tesco’s digital capability advantage.
You will need
• End‑to‑end learning needs analysis and blended programme design across formats, levels and audiences.
• Strong design capability for both technical and behavioural learning, integrating external best practice and market insight.
• Deep D&I expertise to ensure learning is inclusive by design.
• Senior stakeholder management with cross‑market and international experience.
• Proven track record delivering full learning programmes across markets, functions and levels across large, complex organisations.
• Ability to influence senior leaders, navigate complexity and align diverse business areas.
• Strong external network and commitment to continuous professional development.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of learning trends and business context.
• Experience embedding digital and AI‑enabled solutions into end‑to‑end learning programmes.
• Skilled in partnering with digital product teams, data specialists and technology providers to evolve learning architecture.
• Ability to design for scale using digital platforms, automation and data‑driven insights.
• Exposure to AI‑enabled learning tools such as adaptive platforms, skills inference engines, conversational learning and automated content generation.
