Principal Building Control Surveyor

Carbon60 is currently seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor for Northeast Lincolnshire location.

ROLE: Principal Building Control Surveyor
PAY RATE: £59.33 PAYE, £75.00 per hour LTD
CONTRACT TYPE: Temporary
LOCATION: Northeast Lincolnshire,UK
SHIFT PATTERN: Hybrid 3 Days on Site (Friday Mandatory on site)
SHIFT STARTING HOURS: 7:30 AM-8 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of operational front-line Building Control Surveyors.
  • Take responsibility for major and complex building control applications.
  • Inspect and assess deposited plans and supporting documentation for compliance with current Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Prepare schedules of required amendments and negotiate with applicants, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve compliance.
  • Recommend approval or rejection of plans within statutory timeframes and service KPIs.
  • Initiate and support enforcement action where non-compliance is identified.
  • Undertake annual safety inspections and provide professional advice on matters impacting public health and safety.
  • Provide expert building control advice to support major corporate and regeneration projects.
  • Operate within the Building Safety Regulator competency framework.
  • Support the Building Control Manager in delivering service excellence and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) as required under the Building Act 1984.
  • Extensive experience within Building Control, including management of complex and high-risk projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a team of surveyors.
  • Experience in enforcement and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet statutory deadlines.
