Summary

Functional Skills Subject Lead | Stanwell Moor (TW19 6BS) | Full Time (35 hrs/week, 42 weeks) negotiable| £37,000–£40,000 per annum

Green Corridor is a dynamic UK-registered charity supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to build confidence, independence, employability and nationally recognised qualifications. With around 50 learners on roll in our Section 41 Post-16 provision, we are committed to delivering high-quality, personalised education pathways.

Are you the right person for the job?

We’re looking for an experienced Functional Skills specialist who is passionate about high standards, strong outcomes, and inclusive education.

Functional Skills experience:

• Proven experience delivering high-quality English and Maths Functional Skills
• Comprehensive Experience assessing exams and conducting Speaking & Listening assessments (Entry 3 – Level 2)
• Experience managing or coordinating exam processes

SEN / SEND experience:

• Experience working with young people with SEN, particularly neurodivergent learners
• Understanding of EHCPs, individual learner plans, exam and review processes

Qualifications & skills:

• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent)
• GCSE Maths and English (Grade A–C / 9–4) or equivalent
• Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-motivated attitude
• Ability to obtain Enhanced DBS clearance (Child and Adult workforce)

What will your role look like?

As Functional Skills Subject Lead, you will take overall responsibility for English, Maths, and Digital Skills across the provision. This is a leadership role with a teaching element, so while you will not carry a full teaching timetable, you will directly teach key Functional Skills cohorts.

Leadership & Quality Assurance

• Oversee baseline assessments and diagnostics for all new learners
• Monitor learner progress and ensure high-quality, consistent Functional Skills delivery
• Embed Functional Skills across vocational and foundation pathways
• Develop schemes of work and maintain individual learner plans with destination-focused SMART targets
• Support and develop tutors through observations, feedback and training
• Work closely with the Head of Education, Vocational Lead and Foundation Lead
• Ensure compliance with awarding body and centre standards alongside the Internal Verifier

Assessment & Exams

• Oversee the full exam booking and administration process
• Ensure accurate exam entries and documentation
• Coordinate rooms, invigilators and IV processes
• Conduct and oversee assessments, including Speaking, Listening and Communication
• Contribute to exemption recommendations

Teaching

• Plan and deliver high-quality, nationally aligned lessons
• Teach learners from Entry Level 3 through to Level 2
• Differentiate effectively to meet individual needs
• Promote the embedding of Functional Skills and British Values
• Provide cover where required
