Crynodeb

Poringland Parish Council is seeking a self motivated, enthusiastic person to join our community minded team in the role of Deputy Clerk to the Council. This is a particularly exciting time to join us – we have some very interesting projects in the pipeline. The Council manages a number of assets including the Community Centre, Pavilion, Community Woodland, various play areas, and the cemetery. Our Community Land will additionally provide allotments, a community orchard, and further recreational facilities.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Dealing with routine parishioner queries and updates
Working with other staff members to ensure smooth running of services
Managing various office functions and workstreams
Financial reconciliations and support to the Finance Officer
Deputising for the Parish Clerk
Clerking selected Council working groups (Some Wednesday evenings)
Managing a small team with support from the Clerk
Liaison with other local authorities and community groups

This role would be ideal for someone who is looking to learn something new and build a career in the sector or an existing local government officer wanting to gain further experience. The successful applicant should have a good level of education, with good communication skills (verbal and written). They will work as part of a team but must be happy to work individually on their own initiative. Knowledge of local government will be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be given. Good IT skills are imperative, as is a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt in our ever-moving environment.

In return, the Council offers a good rate of pay with potential for progression, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (subject to satisfactory completion of the probation period), and 29 days holiday plus bank holidays.
