Experienced Full Time Pastoral Officer and Designated Safeguarding Leader Required from April 2026We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Pastoral Officer to provide support to all our families particularly those who may be vulnerable or experiencing short-term challenges. The successful candidate will deliver a range of early help interventions and will work closely with parents. pupils and staff to identify needs and overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing. They will also investigate concerns raised by parents, pupils and teachers as directed by the Headteacher.
The primary focus of this role is early intervention and preventative support, ensuring that pupils are given every opportunity to achieve their full potential. You will work with a wide range of children with differing needs, attitudes and behaviours, and will be expected to manage your workload efficiently while handling interruptions and responding to emerging situations. A significant part of this role will be investigating behaviour concerns and helping pupils repair and resolve the situation. It will also include informing parents either face to face, through online meetings or via email or phone calls.
We are looking for someone with strong inter-personal skills, a compassionate approach and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

We are looking for someone:
Who has completed safeguarding training and can be one of the DSL’s in school
With GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Who is experienced as an ELSA or in emotional literacy.
Has a First Aid qualification and can administer first aid
Has training in other relevant areas to this post such as (but not necessarily entirely) parenting, CAMHS referrals, direct work with social workers and the family support team, Safer Spaces, Domestic Violence, FGM, Prevent, Saying Goodbye project.
Who is robust and resilient with an understanding of vulnerable children with challenging behaviour.
With experience of working with children who have social and emotional difficulties.
With the ability to handle sensitive issues relating to pupils, keeping confidentiality as required.
Who is flexible and will be available during emergencies, which may fall out of the core hours.
Willing to access in-house/external training to enhance professional development.
With Level 3 in childcare or similar qualification, or social work or social care - all desirable but not a requirement.
With previous experience of working with junior aged children - would be an advantage.
Able to work as part of a team, building positive relationships with pupils, parents/ carers and staff.
Able to show initiative and be prepared to take responsibility for individual children or a small groups when the needs arises i.e. Resolve behaviour issues, run a nurture group or parenting course or a supportive breakfast club for anxious pupils finding attendance at school challenging.
