Accounts Assistant

Location: Sittingbourne
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary

About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our client growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong data entry skills and accounts experience to contribute to a busy finance department.

The successful candidate will support all aspects of the accounts function, ensuring financial records are accurate, up to date, and processed in line with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing purchase invoices and checking validity against purchase orders
  • Matching, batching, and coding invoices
  • Raising sales invoices and applications
  • Entering purchasing invoices onto the Eque2 system (training provided if required)
  • Entering payments from cash books into Sage Line 50
  • CIS verification of subcontractors
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Processing credit card expenses and ensuring all receipts are provided
  • Requesting and processing credit notes where required
  • Preparing and issuing customer and supplier statements
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Producing month-end and management financial reports from Eque2
  • Job costing (labour, expenses, petty cash)
  • Liaising with accountants and external auditors
  • Responding to time-critical emails from clients and colleagues

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent data entry skills and strong attention to detail
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Previous experience in sales and purchase invoicing
  • Experience in accounts payable or purchase ledger
  • Experience using Sage (Sage Line 50 preferred)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

The hours of work are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday and this is initially a Temporary role with the opportunity to become Permanent
